First grade:
This week we presented our coat of arms project to the class. All three of them did a great job presenting, and an awesome job making connections about themselves and their families.

They were very excited to learn a "secret code" this week. We are beginning to learn about cryptography, and they are all so excited to figure out what they rest of the message means when we meet again next week.
Second grade:

This class has really been using their brain muscles this week to analyze poems by Edgar Allan Poe, and Ralph Waldo Emerson. These poems are not easy to understand during the first reading, and they use words that are new to the students. They have tried hard to understand the meanings of the words as well as the overall meaning of the poems. Next week we will begin our lessons on The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. We will begin making predictions next week!
Third grade
We finished our lesson on our Introduction to Interactions. The group put a lot of thought into their work this week. On Wednesday we started looking at Character traits and Interactions. We used the book The girl who loved wild horses to help us grasp this concept.

Fourth grade:
WORD NERDS UNITE!
The Word Nerd of the week is Ethan ! Great Job!
What is Cryptography and why would someone use it? This week's question comes from the First graders! Good Luck!

First Grade
The kids had an absolute blast playing Zani Lingo! They did a great job rolling the die and figuring out which shape to mark to be the closest to getting a Zani Lingo! They each got to pick a prize when they won from Mrs. P's prize box with the promise that the prizes would remain in their backpacks until they got home!
They also learned how to do the Think Deeply to answer the questions from Imi and Zani. They do not like all the writing, but they do a great job!
Second Grade:
We were excited to start learning about Symmetry. We discovered that symmetry is when both halves look the same. We used folded papers and mirrors to explore this concept. We learned that Dru and Teller really like to try to trick us! Some of the shapes on the paper were not symmetrical the way they had us look at them; but they were if we looked with our mirrors another way. Also, we learned that some shapes have many lines of symmetry, while others have none!
Third GradeWe used this week to finish learning about growing patterns. We worked in partners around the room to make a name game question for our classmates to solve. We then had to revise our question, if needed, and then write down the answers. On Thursday, we wrote down our explanations of how we solved the questions. We will start a new lesson next week!
Fourth Grade
We continued learning with our Fraction strips. We discovered if we made a strip of thirds and then we folded it two more times we got a strip of ninths. We did the same thing with halves making it sixths. We talked about the connection of multiplying to make equivalent fractions.
Happy birthday to Nathanael! He celebrated his birthday last weekend.
Congratulations to Ethan , Ava , Tyler , and Riley for knowing that a shape with 12 sides is a DODECAGON! Way to go! Be sure to check every week for the new brain squeezer!
This week's challenge is....
What is the Roman numeral for 500?
Weekly Words of Wisdom:
