Rain Rain Go Away!

The first week of High Ability is in the books! Since we had Labor Day and early dismissal this week we only got to meet a few times. I saw the Language Arts students on Tuesday and the Math students on Wednesday.
I saw some new faces this year and took some time to learn about all the awesome things the students did over the summer. I wanted to make sure to tell the kids all about me and find out some things about them. We will continue to do some fun and exciting activities in the next few weeks to learn more about each other.
We also went over some of the rules and procedures for the classroom. I let the students know what is expected of them when they enter the high ability class.
The students also completed their interest survey-sheet about learning.
That was one sheet I was going to send home, but most students had time to complete it in class. I sent home a sheet for you all to fill out about your children. I have received some back already which is great because it gives me time to read up on each student.
Please make sure to have these filled out and returned by Monday, September 14th. Thank you to all the parents/guardians who replied to the test email I sent out this week.
If you supplied your email address on the permission slip but have not received any emails from me, let me know. I could have easily made a typo when entering them. I will continue to use email to announce blog posts and other notes on the High Ability throughout the year.
Next week, we will start the regular schedule of Language Arts on Monday and Tuesday and Math on Wednesday and Thursday. The students will be starting pre-assessments in both language arts and math. We will also complete some fun getting-to-know-you activities.
Over the next few weeks we will mix the pre-assessments with other fantastic activities so the kids can have fun while we see what the students already know. These assessments just allow me to see where each student is in their learning path and what we can accomplish as a class.
I look forward to a great and educational year in High Ability. I am so glad you allow me the opportunity to teach your children

Have a wonderful weekend!
Mrs. Lutterman
