Week One: Getting to know everyone.
This week’s
blog will be short because I am just starting to learn about your students and I
had an outstanding time learning about their activities, families, hobbies, and
interests.
This week
the students also got to learn about me and each other. We completed fun
activities learning about each other. Some students got a chance to interview
another student. Some students got to play a cool Bingo game where you learn
about others in your class.
We were so
busy having fun that I didn’t take many photos of the groups.
The classes
also got to create their own name tags for their desks/seats. We used stickers,
colored pencils, glitter glue, markers, crayons and whatever else we could
find.
I only took
a few pictures this week I will make sure I do better with it next week.
My Math
groups got a chance on Thursday to start working on a few problems to see what
knowledge they already possess.
Before next week's language arts classes, I want to let you know that we have a new language arts curriculum. Before presenting the curriculum, a pre-assessment is to be administered; therefore, I will be testing all students that will be in grades 1 - 4 next year. These assessments are for the purpose of obtaining a baseline of student's knowledge. This will give me an idea of what we will need to cover and how best to present it to the students. No grades will be given on these assessments, as no grades are ever taken in this class.
I look forward to working with all your children and I know we will have fun learning and exploring the new curriculum.
Math:
Next week we will start working on the problem of the day and other activities that gives the students a chance to work together to solve math problems.
I look forward to learning more about your children week by week, and am very excited to see them grow.
Have a great weekend.
