They all work so hard each week to learn the material and concepts. They are a great bunch of kids and always make the classes so interesting and entertaining.
I also sent each student home with a little summer
survival kit. I hope they like them. It contains a book and other cool stuff
for them to use over the summer. Each grade will have different things.
The One School One Book is in full swing with so many great activities and fun in the classrooms. Every class was rushing to answer the pop quiz questions that Mr. Cammarata would ask over the P.A. each day. I can say I think all the students have done a great job figuring out the answers quickly. I know all the students are so excited each day to talk about the book and what is happening.
Who will win this Lemonade War? Will Evan pull it off or will Jesse find a way to win? I know I am really excited to keep reading to find out. I also can’t wait to see who here at Brummitt will have the best lemonade.
Remember that Fridays are
the Student Council Spirit Days so
be sure to wear those school colors.

This week we continued learning about our Life Skills with Cooperation. I think that this one is great for the end of the year. All students need to learn to cooperate with each other every day in school and at home. They all need to learn to work as a team to reach their common goals.
I think this year almost all of my students have done their very best to succeed in any group projects and activities. They all want to do their best and make sure to work together as a team to get there. I am so proud at all they have accomplished working and cooperating with each other. They all know how important it is every day in every way. Great job this year kids.
Idiom of the Week
Language Arts
Kindergarten:
This week we finished up our lesson on a great book called Wimberley Worried. We talked about the characters and made connections to people in our own lives. We also answered the four levels of questioning and took time to create our fun video that will be up on the blog next week.
We have had so much fun this spring learning about connections and why they are so important. I think that this will help us our on journey next fall.
First Grade:
This week we only got to meet one day because of a special project they were doing with the kindergarten classes. On Tuesday the students got to talk about their Wordles and why they picked their words to describe themselves. It was fun to hear the reasons why they used specific adjectives. We also took time to create our final video. They were so excited to create their own movie trailer. They worked really hard to make it the best. I hope you all love it. On Tuesday we talked about all the connections we have learned about this year. The students discussed what they liked about class and we talked about summer plans. They all got their summer survival kits.Second Grade:
On Monday some of the students had to finish their testing and weren’t able to come to class. So Jackson and I had an impromptu to I-Pad day. We practiced math facts and challenged each other to fun matches. We also discussed the plans for the movie trailer. On Tuesday we got to work on the movie trailer and finished it all up. The students had so much fun planning and working on it. We had a little time at the end of the class and they wanted to use the I-Pads. I let them face off for one game and they had so much fun. They all got to take home their summer survival kits. I hope they all like their books.
Third Grade:
This
week the students got to create their own movie trailers. They broke into
groups and got to use the I-Pads to create a video. I let them use all their
creativity to come up with a concept and then film it. They used all their team
work skills to create some great work. I will be posting them all on the blog
at the beginning of next week once I get everything up loaded. They all got to
use the life skill of cooperation while working on their movie trailers.
Fourth Grade:
This week the students continued their partner writing projects. The group that was already finished got to work on a video for the class. They filmed the kids working on their projects and created a cool video. Not all the groups got done with their books.I told them they can finish it on their own and I will make copies of it for them once they finish. I will be in and out of my classroom for the last two weeks of school and they will be able to get it to me. I am glad they want to work so hard to create something of their own. I will miss them next year. They also got their summer survival kits.
Math
Kindergarten:
This week the students finished up their word problems they created. They had so much fun writing their own problems. We also finished up our video trailer. They were so excited to shoot a video around the school. I hope that everyone likes them.On Wednesday they got to play on the electronic white board to answer addition math facts and find the missing number. On Thursday they got to use the I-Pads one last time to practice their math facts. They had a great time. They also got to take home their summer survival kits.
We even got to dance to a Gonoodle song or two. I will miss them and they did just a great job this spring working on new math concepts and practicing math facts. I can’t wait to see how far they will go next year.
First Grade:
This week the students got to work on their math video trailers. They had so much fun creating a video for all the parents to see. There are two for first grade math since I see some students in the morning and some in the afternoon. They had a blast each creating their masterpieces.
I will have them posted next week as soon as I can review them. On Thursday we took the last day to have some much need fun. The students got to use the I-Pads to practice their math facts and challenge each other in the games.
We also talked about all the great plans they all have for the summer. Each student got a summer survival kit to take home with some fun things. I hope they like them.
Second Grade:
Third and Fourth Grade: Math Vocabulary Comic Relief
This year I am starting something new we will be doing
each week on Wednesdays. I have the Math Vocabulary Comic Relief board. Each
week when the students come in on Wednesday they will go to look at the board
and grab their problem. They will have five minutes to read and solve it. This
week was radius. In math radius is a straight line from the center to
the circumference of a circle or sphere. The
students rocked this one out fast. I only had a few students stumble on what
was needed. I am so proud of how much they have all improved on these. I am so
happy that they got the hang of what they needed to do and how they needed to
do it. I knew they could do it and they did. They worked hard each week to
improve and figure out each problem. Great job third and fourth grade!
Third Grade:
On Wednesday the students got to complete cool videos for their end of the year trailer. I only had one requirement which was to somehow relate the information and subject back to math. I let them work on it and they did a great job from what I could see. I will have to review all the footage over the weekend to see what the final products were.I let them finish up anything left on Thursday and then they got to use the I-Pads one last time. They were so excited to practice their math facts and compete against each other. They also got to take home their summer survival kits. I hope they like them. Check back to the blog next week for all the completed videos.
Fourth Grade:
This week the students got to create their own short movie trailers. They were divided into two groups and got to create a video. It was so much fun watching the students cooperate to succeed to get their video shot. They did a great job working as a team to finish their common goal which was to create a cool interesting video. I will have all the videos posted in the beginning of next week once I finish checking them all and uploading them to the blog.On Thursday once they were complete with their videos they got to use the I-Pads to have some fun practicing their math facts. They also got their summer survival kits. I will miss seeing these students next year and hearing about all their exciting lives.
Have a Great Summer!!
See you in the fall!!
